Douvikas Levels It
Como came out after the break with more urgency, and it paid off in the 54th minute. Anastasios Douvikas got on the end of something and put it away — no assist recorded — to make it 1-1. It was the equalizer Como's volume of play probably deserved, even if it took them until just past the hour mark to find it.
From there, neither side could find a winner. Como kept probing — six shots on target to Udinese's three, and Udinese's goalkeeper was called into action five times across the full ninety. Como's keeper needed to make just two saves, which tells you where most of the pressure was coming from. And yet, Udinese held.
Unai Gómez picked up a late yellow in the third minute of stoppage time, a frustration foul that summed up Udinese's evening: grinding, pressured, occasionally rattled, but never broken.
What to Make of It
Como will feel they let two points slip. The numbers back that up — more possession, more shots, more corners, better pass accuracy. El dominio de Como was real, and sustained. But football doesn't grade on volume.
For Udinese, a point from a match they were heavy underdogs in — with two players on yellows for most of the second half — is something to take. Their form coming in read DWLLW, so a draw against a side that hadn't lost in four keeps them from sliding further.
Como, meanwhile, sit at DWWWD after this. Still unbeaten, still playing the better football in most of their matches. The question now is whether they can convert that control into victories, because a side that dominates like this and keeps drawing will eventually feel the cost of it.
