Three minutes in and the Olimpico was already buzzing. Nuno Tavares got Lazio off the mark almost immediately, finishing off a Tijjani Noslin assist to set the tone before Monza had time to settle. It was the kind of opening that tells a visiting side exactly what kind of evening they're in for.

Monza tried to respond, but the match was effectively decided inside the first half hour. Gustav Isaksen doubled the lead in the 23rd minute — Noslin again the provider, his second assist of the night — and then Lorenzo Lucchesi was shown red in the 35th. Down a man and two goals, Monza's task went from difficult to near-impossible.

Goglichidze Gives Monza a Lifeline

Credit to Monza for not folding entirely. Saba Goglichidze got a header on the board right at the stroke of halftime — Dany Mota with the assist — and suddenly the scoreline read 2-1 going into the break. For a moment it felt like the ten men might make a proper contest of it. They had six shots on target on the night and forced five saves from the Lazio goalkeeper, which tells you they were not simply parking the bus and hoping.

But Lazio's structural advantage was too much to overcome. With 65.5% possession and 596 passes completed at 90% accuracy, they could dictate the rhythm and wait for the openings to come. Monza, working with 299 passes and only 34.5% of the ball, were always going to run out of road.

The second half saw Lazio's backline pick up a run of yellow cards — Danilho Doekhi just before the break, Oliver Provstgaard in the 55th, Diogo Leite in the 68th — which suggested Monza were not going down without some friction. But they never found the equalizer, and Andrea Pinamonti put the result to bed in the 88th minute with a goal set up by Alfonso Pedraza. Cabal, that was the moment the match was finished as a contest.

A Night That Belonged to Noslin

Tijjani Noslin had assists on both first-half goals and was the creative engine behind Lazio's best moments. El chispudo de Noslin, always finding the right moment to release a runner. Neither Tavares nor Isaksen would have had their goals without him.

Our pre-match read made Lazio the favorite at 56%, and that is exactly how it played out — the result was never seriously in doubt once Lucchesi walked. Lazio's form coming in read DWDWW, and this was the kind of performance that keeps a run like that going. Monza, whose LWLDW form suggested a side capable of results but prone to dropping off, will feel they were in this game longer than the final scoreline suggests — but three points was always going the home side's way.

The question now is whether Lazio can sustain this. The Noslin-Isaksen combination looks genuinely dangerous, and home form at the Olimpico is clearly something they can rely on. Monza, meanwhile, will need to sort out their discipline before it costs them something they can't recover from.
