Juventusvs
LazioNobody gave Lazio much of a chance Sunday night. Our pre-match read had Juventus as 57% favorites on home turf, and on paper that made sense. What unfolded at the Allianz Stadium was something else entirely.
Lazio left Turin with a 3-0 win that was, if anything, flattering to the hosts.
The Goal That Set the Tone
The opening goal came on 37 minutes and it was straightforward in the best way. Mattia Zaccagni picked out Oliver Provstgaard, who got above his marker and headed home cleanly. Juventus had 57.8% of the ball and would finish with 526 passes — and yet, when it mattered, Lazio were the ones doing damage.
Four minutes after Provstgaard's header, Kenneth Taylor picked up a yellow card, and Zaccagni followed him into the book on 48'. The bookings came at a tense moment, but Lazio kept their shape and their discipline where it counted.
The Match as a Contest
By the time Gustav Isaksen converted on 66' — Nuno Tavares with the assist — Juventus were chasing a game they had never really been in. Nine shots each, but Juventus put only two on target to Lazio's three. Six offsides against the home side told the story of a team pressing desperately and finding nothing.
El chispudo de Isaksen, always arriving at the right moment. His goal effectively ended the contest.
Fisayo Dele-Bashiru wrapped it up in the 89th minute, finishing off an Andrea Pinamonti assist to make it three. By then the Allianz was quiet.
Verdict
Lazio will feel this is one of the results of their season. They came to a stadium where they were heavy underdogs, conceded the ball willingly — 42.2% possession — and punished Juventus on the counter with a ruthlessness the home side simply couldn't match.
For Juventus, the questions are harder. The possession numbers and the pass volume look fine until you check what they produced: two shots on target, zero goals, and a goalkeeper who didn't need to make a single save. Cabal, that is the real problem — not the shape of the performance, but the absence of any cutting edge inside it.
The form suggested this was Juventus's night. Lazio had other ideas.
