Genoavs
ComoThere was a moment — right around the 30th minute — when this match stopped being a contest. Genoa had led, briefly, and the Ferraris crowd had something to hold onto. Twenty minutes later they were trailing by two and watching Como pass the ball around their own stadium like they owned it.
Milutin Osmajic gave the home side the lead in the 19th minute, finishing off a Lorenzo Colombo assist to give Genoa exactly the start they needed. It lasted six minutes. Martin Baturina leveled in the 25th, set up by Álex Valle, and from there Como took over completely.
Assane Diao made it 2-1 in the 30th, and then Nico Paz — fed by Yan Couto — put the third away in the 40th to kill whatever hope Genoa had of getting back into it before halftime. Three goals in 21 minutes. Qué primera parte tan brutal for the hosts.
The numbers from that first half tell the story as clearly as the scoreline. Como finished the match with 62.4% possession, 20 shots to Genoa's 11, and nine on target to Genoa's two. Genoa were caught offside six times. Their goalkeeper made five saves. At no point did they look capable of sustaining pressure going the other direction.
Djibril Sow picked up a yellow card in the 36th — right in the middle of Como's surge — and it summed up Genoa's afternoon: scrambling, fouling, unable to get a foothold. Baturina was booked for Como in the 60th, and Leo Østigard followed for Genoa two minutes later, but by then the result was long settled.
Diao finished things off in the 78th, converting a Moise Kean assist for his second of the afternoon and Como's fourth. Clean, efficient, and utterly convincing.
Our pre-match read made Como the favorite at 56%, and that is exactly how it played out — they were the better team from the moment they equalized and never looked back.
For Como, this is what a team in form looks like. Four wins from their last five coming in, and now a four-goal performance away from home. El chispudo de Nico Paz, always finding the right moment, is becoming a fixture in this side's best passages. Diao, meanwhile, is a real problem for defenders to solve — two goals and constant movement.
For Genoa, the question now is whether this group can find any kind of consistency. Five defeats in their last six, one brief moment of hope in the 19th minute, and then an afternoon that just got longer and longer. The form line reads LLLWL, and nothing about tonight suggests that is about to change.
