There is a version of this game where Venezia pull off one of the stranger results of the Serie A weekend. They had the ball, they had the shots, and for about fifteen minutes in the second half they had all the momentum. Then Giorgi Kvernadze scored in the 83rd minute and the Stirpe breathed again.

Frosinone won 3-2, and they earned it twice over.

Raimondo Does the Damage Early

The home side spent the first half doing what they needed to do with whatever little they had. Venezia controlled possession — they'd finish with 60.8 percent of it — but Frosinone were ruthless on the counter. Antonio Raimondo headed home an Anthony Oyono cross in the 21st minute, and before the visitors could properly reset, Patrizio Masini found him again in the 39th for a second. Two goals, eight shots on target across the whole match, and a 60-percent pass accuracy that tells you Frosinone were not here to play pretty. They were here to win.

Venezia's afternoon was already getting messy before halftime. Redouane Halhal and Romano Schmid picked up yellows simultaneously in the 33rd, then Gianluca Busio was booked in the 40th and Simon Sohm followed four minutes later. Three Venezia players cautioned in the final ten minutes of the first half — en qué lío se encontraba el equipo visitante going into the break.

The Comeback That Almost Was

Whatever was said at halftime, Venezia came out with a point to prove. They had the better of the second half's early exchanges and finally broke through in the 66th minute when John Yeboah, set up by Busio, pulled one back. Eight minutes later, Richie Sagrado converted an Antoine Hainaut assist to make it 2-2. Suddenly the Stirpe was quiet, Venezia's recent form — four straight losses coming in — looked like it might finally be turning, and Frosinone looked like a side that had let a comfortable lead slip through their hands.

Oyono picked up a yellow of his own in the 61st, a small sign of how frantic things were getting.

But Frosinone didn't collapse. Kvernadze's winner in the 83rd came without a credited assist — just a goal when the home side needed it most. Cabal, that was the difference between three points and one.

Verdict

Our pre-match read called this one too close to split, and for long stretches it was exactly that — Frosinone settled it with a late goal rather than a dominant performance. The win keeps them in the rhythm of their alternating form (WLWLW, now WLWLWW if you're generous), but the second-half capitulation will give their coaching staff something to work on. They were outshot 15-13 overall, with Venezia generating more attempts despite getting nothing from the first half.

For Venezia, the question now is how long that LLLL run at the start of their form line continues to define them. They showed they can manufacture a comeback. They just couldn't hold one long enough to matter.
