For about 90 seconds on Wednesday night, Como looked like they might be the real deal in Europe. Then Feyenoord hit back immediately, took control after halftime, and had to survive a nervy finale to come away with a 3-2 win at Stadion Feijenoord 'De Kuip' — a result that, for the neutral, was about as entertaining as the Champions League gets.

Our pre-match read had Como as the favorite at 42%, and honestly, the opening half-hour justified that. The visitors were comfortable on the ball — they'd finish the night with 52% possession and 564 passes — and it was Assane Diao who broke the deadlock in the 18th minute, finishing off a move started by Jacobo Ramón. Como looked settled. De Kuip looked nervous.

Then came the 20th minute. Luciano Valente found Gjivai Zechiël, and just like that, the game was level. Two goals, two minutes, and a completely different match.

The Second Half Changed Everything

Feyenoord came out of the break with more urgency. Gaoussou Diarra picked up a yellow card in the 50th minute — a sign of how physical the midfield battle had become — but two minutes later it was Diarra with the assist as Anis Hadj Moussa put the hosts ahead. That goal, coming so quickly after the restart, took the wind out of Como completely.

El chispudo de Hadj Moussa, cutting into space and finishing with confidence, was the kind of moment that changes a match's shape for good. Feyenoord looked in control. Como were chasing, collecting bookings — Ivan Smolcic in the 57th, Jacobo Ramón in the 69th, Lucas Da Cunha in the 74th — and running out of ideas going forward.

Then Robert Sánchez put the ball into his own net in the 81st minute, and suddenly Como had a lifeline. Feyenoord, who had looked comfortable, were now protecting a one-goal lead with ten minutes to go. Givairo Read was booked in the 84th for his troubles.

It stayed 3-2 through regulation, but Como kept pressing. In the third minute of stoppage time, Anastasios Douvikas pulled another goal back — 3-2 — and for a moment it looked like De Kuip might have a full crisis on its hands. It didn't. Feyenoord held on.

The numbers tell a fairly even story: both sides managed 13 and 11 shots respectively, five on target each, three saves apiece. What separated them was the ten-minute stretch after halftime, when Feyenoord turned a draw into a lead and Como never quite recovered.

Como will feel this one. They came in with three wins from their last four, controlled possession for most of the night, and still left Rotterdam empty-handed. The own goal gave them hope; the final whistle took it away. The question now is whether this squad has the depth to keep pushing in Europe after a result like this, or whether the dropped points here start to compound. Feyenoord, meanwhile, will take the win and the drama with it — in De Kuip, nights like these are what the competition is for.
