There are results that surprise you and results that tell you something. Como 4-1 RB Leipzig does both. On a Thursday night at the Giuseppe Sinigaglia, the Italians didn't just beat a Champions League regular — they outclassed them for long stretches, and the scoreline, for once, wasn't flattering to the winner.

Our pre-match read had Como as favorites at 56%, and they left absolutely no doubt.

Willi Orbán was booked inside two minutes, which set the tone for a Leipzig side that never looked comfortable. Como took full advantage. In the 15th minute, Martin Baturina opened the scoring, and from that point Leipzig were chasing a game they had no idea how to catch.

Baturina didn't just score — he orchestrated. At 38 minutes he turned provider, teeing up Anastasios Douvikas to make it 2-0 before halftime. Leipzig's evening was already en qué clavo se encontraba, and Christopher Nkunku picking up a yellow card in the 24th minute only compounded their problems going into the break.

The Second Half Settled It

Nico Paz, booked early in the second half at 47 minutes, shook it off immediately. Seven minutes later he slid an assist through for Assane Diao, and Como were three to the good. At 3-0 on your own pitch in the Champions League, that's the match.

Leipzig did pull one back. Maksimovic — Andrija Maksimovic — finished from a Christopher Nkunku assist in the 58th minute, and for a brief window you wondered if the visitors had found something. They hadn't. Como absorbed it without panic, and Ezechiel Banzuzi's yellow card in the 64th minute told you Leipzig were running out of ideas and patience in equal measure.

The fourth came deep in stoppage time. Nico Paz, again, with the assist — this time for Máximo Perrone, who collected a booking of his own moments after scoring. Cabal, that was the punctuation mark the night deserved.

The stats tell an even story on the surface: both sides finished with 14 shots, possession split almost perfectly down the middle, passing accuracy identical at 90% for each team. But Como converted six of those shots on target to Leipzig's four, and only needed two saves behind them. When the margins in a stat sheet are that thin and the scoreline is 4-1, the difference is execution — and Como were ruthless where Leipzig were not.

El chispudo de Nico Paz, always finding the right moment. Two assists, a yellow card, and a performance that will have people asking how a player like that is still at a club Como's size. Baturina was the other name of the night: a goal and an assist, and the kind of presence that makes a midfield feel organized even when things get stretched.

For Leipzig, the form coming in — LWWLW — hinted at inconsistency, and that's exactly what showed up here. The question now is whether this is a one-off bad night or something more structural for a side that cannot seem to string results together on the road.

For Como, the question is simpler and far more exciting: how far can this group actually go?
