Como have now dropped just two points in their last five Serie A matches, and Sunday's 2-1 win over Parma was the least dramatic way imaginable to extend that run. The home side controlled nearly everything — possession, corners, shots, the rhythm of the afternoon — and only a stoppage-time consolation from Parma kept the scoreline from looking as comfortable as the game felt.

Como Set the Tone Early

The opener came in the 23rd minute, Nico Paz finding Jacobo Ramón, who finished to put Como ahead. It was the kind of goal that fits this version of Como: patient build-up, the right pass at the right moment. Parma, who came in with four losses in their last five, had no real answer for it.

The visitors managed to keep things tight for the next hour, at least in terms of the scoreline. But the underlying picture was bleak for Parma. Como finished with 28 shots to Parma's 12, held 64 percent of the ball, and completed 652 passes at 90 percent accuracy. Parma's 'keepers were busy — five saves on the night — while Como's needed just three.

Maxence Caqueret picked up a yellow card in the 76th minute, the only real blemish on a clean Como performance.

Kaiki Closes It Out

The second goal arrived in the 83rd, and it was the one that made the three points feel official. Máximo Perrone played in Kaiki, who converted to make it 2-0. Cabal, that was the moment Parma's evening was over.

José Romero pulled one back in the 92nd minute, assisted by Pontus Almqvist, and the final whistle followed shortly after. It gave the scoreboard a competitive look that the match itself never quite had. Parma can take the goal as something, but not much.

Verdict

Our pre-match read made Como the clear favorite at 77 percent, and this was exactly the kind of performance that justifies that kind of confidence. They were never in danger, never particularly stretched, and won with a full 90 minutes to spare — the late goal aside.

Parma will feel the gap between themselves and the rest of the table widening. Four defeats in five is a difficult place to be in September, and nothing about Sunday suggested a turnaround is close.

For Como, the question now is how far this run can go. El patojo Nico Paz pulling strings in midfield, Perrone linking play, and a forward line that can finish — this side looks like it belongs in the top half of Serie A, and they're making a case for more than that.
