Bologna gave Inter something to think about for exactly 34 minutes. Then the visiting side remembered who they were.

Tommaso Pobega opened the scoring in the 10th minute, finishing off a move started by Juan Miranda, and the Renato Dall'Ara liked it. For a stretch, Bologna looked organized, compact, and genuinely dangerous on the counter. With 34.9% of the ball, they were never going to dominate possession — but they didn't need to. They just needed to hold the lead.

They couldn't.

The Equalizer Changes Everything

Right before the break, Nicolò Barella picked out Marcus Thuram, whose header in the 44th minute leveled it. That goal — timed as perfectly as it was — deflated whatever belief Bologna had built. Inter went into the locker room level, and the second half belonged to them almost immediately.

Our pre-match read made Internazionale the clear favorite at 61%, and what followed vindicated that completely.

Carlos Augusto put Inter ahead for the first time in the 69th minute, with Piotr Zielinski doing the creative work to set him up. The lead was deserved by then — Inter had 17 shots on the night to Bologna's 11, and their 65% possession meant they were dictating every exchange. Bologna's goalkeeper made five saves, which tells you how relentless the pressure was.

The bookings were piling up through the second half — Tommaso Pobega picked up his yellow in the 57th, then Thuram got cautioned in the 61st, Carlos Augusto in the 79th, and Bologna's Juan Miranda and Federico Bernardeschi both saw yellow in the 71st and 72nd minutes, respectively. The game was getting edgy, but Inter never lost the thread.

Bonny Seals It

Ange-Yoan Bonny put the result beyond doubt in the 83rd minute, assisted by the same Carlos Augusto who had scored the second. ¡Ala gran púchica! — a defender with a goal and an assist in the same match. Not something you see every week.

The final numbers frame it cleanly:

  • Possession: Bologna 34.9% — Inter 65.1%
  • Shots / on target: Bologna 11/4 — Inter 17/8
  • Passes: Bologna 361 (80% accuracy) — Inter 683 (90% accuracy)
  • Corners: Bologna 2 — Inter 7

Bologna's form coming in — DWDLD — hinted at a side that had been inconsistent, and this result fits that pattern. They showed enough in the first half to frustrate a lesser team, but Inter absorbed the early setback and methodically took the game apart.

Internazionale, for their part, will feel good about the way this one developed. Going a goal down on the road and responding with three straight is the kind of result that builds confidence. The question now is whether they can carry that composure into bigger tests ahead — because this version of Inter, when they're moving the ball at 90% accuracy and generating 17 shots, looks genuinely difficult to live with.
