Bodø/Glimt arrived in Munich with five straight wins and, presumably, a plan. By the time Odin Bjørtuft was sent off in the 87th minute of a 5-0 defeat, whatever that plan was had long since stopped mattering.

Our pre-match read made Bayern Munich the overwhelming favorite at 90%, and the Germans left absolutely no doubt.

The first half was scoreless, which probably gave Bodø/Glimt's traveling support false hope. Bayern had the ball — 65.7% of it over the full ninety — and 25 shots before the night was through, but the opener didn't come until two minutes after the restart. Jamal Musiala finished from a Harry Kane assist, and from that point the Norwegian side never looked like they could claw their way back.

The Game Breaks Open

Sondre Brunstad Fet picked up a yellow card in the 58th minute, a sign of the pressure Bodø/Glimt were absorbing. Three minutes later, Kane got his own name on the scoresheet, heading home a Michael Olise delivery to make it 2-0. Cabal, that was the moment the match died as a contest.

Alphonso Davies added a third in the 77th minute — no assist recorded, just a left back doing what left backs at Bayern apparently do — and then Olise took over. A goal in the 83rd, set up by Lennart Karl, and then another deep into stoppage time to complete a personal two-goal night and give the scoreline its final, emphatic shape.

Bjørtuft's red card three minutes before Olise's second goal meant Bodø/Glimt finished with ten men, though by that point the result had been settled for some time. En qué clavo se encontraba el equipo noruego.

The Numbers

Bayern's stats tell the story cleanly:

  • Possession: 65.7%
  • Shots / on target: 25 / 12
  • Passes: 699 at 90% accuracy
  • Saves required: 0

That last number is the one that stings. Bayern's goalkeeper was not called upon once. Bodø/Glimt, for all their domestic form, never genuinely threatened.

Musiala and Kane combined for the opener before swapping roles on the scorecard, and Olise's two-goal cameo late on underlined just how much depth Bayern can call on even when the game is already won. The assist from Lennart Karl for the fourth — a name worth remembering if he keeps showing up in moments like that — was a small subplot worth watching going forward.

For Bodø/Glimt, the question now is how much this shakes their confidence heading into the rest of the group stage. Five wins before this looked impressive on paper; this result is a reminder that the Champions League runs on a different clock. They'll need to regroup quickly. Bayern, meanwhile, will feel this is exactly the kind of statement performance that sets a tone early in Europe — 12 shots on target, zero saves conceded, and a clean sheet that was never really in doubt.
