There was never any real suspense at Spotify Camp Nou on Wednesday night — just the question of how large the margin would get. Barcelona, five wins from five and moving with the kind of confidence that makes opponents look smaller than they are, dismantled Racing Santander with a ruthlessness that will linger in the memory of anyone who watched it.

Our pre-match read made Barcelona a 90% favorite, and they left absolutely no doubt.

The First Half Did Most of the Damage

João Cancelo opened it in the 8th minute, finishing a move started by Lamine Yamal, and the tone was set immediately. Racing Santander barely had time to settle before Pedro Felipe picked up a yellow card in the 23rd minute for a foul that led directly to the second goal — Raphinha stepping up and converting the penalty.

For a moment, Racing pushed back. Maguette Gueye pulled one back in the 30th, assisted by Asier Villalibre, and the away side looked briefly like they might make a game of it. Then, six minutes later, Villalibre put the ball into his own net to make it 3-1, and that, cabal, was the moment any real contest ended. Raphinha added a fourth just before the break, Dani Olmo teeing him up for a composed finish in the 42nd minute. Yamal picked up a yellow card deep in stoppage time — a minor blemish on an otherwise dazzling first half from the teenager.

Racing Kept Swinging, Barcelona Kept Scoring

You had to give Racing Santander some credit for not going quiet. Yassir Zabiri scored in the 65th minute to make it 4-2, and for about ninety seconds, there was at least a scoreline worth reading. Then Raphinha got his second penalty of the night two minutes later, and that was that.

El chispudo de Lamine Yamal, always finding someone in a better position — he set up Gabriel Jesus in the 79th minute for the sixth, then closed the night himself in the 89th, turning a Karim Adeyemi assist into the seventh. Bookings for Adeyemi and João Cancelo in the second half were the only real blemishes for the hosts.

The numbers tell the story cleanly: Barcelona had 69.3% possession, attempted 30 shots, and completed 644 passes at 90% accuracy. Racing managed five shots all night, kept zero corners, and their goalkeeper made three saves just to keep the scoreline from getting uglier.

Raphinha's hat-trick — two from the spot, one assisted by Olmo — was the headline performance, but this was a collective statement from a squad that looks very comfortable at the top of LaLiga. Yamal with two assists, Jesus continuing to contribute, Cancelo bombing forward to open the scoring — the depth and movement were relentless.

Racing, alternating wins and losses all season, will feel the weight of this one for a while. Barcelona, on the other hand, looks like a team that has found a rhythm that the rest of the division will need to seriously reckon with.
